The Perfect Study Bible?! Oct 04, 2010
By Cameron First off, I would just like to say that there is NOT a such thing as a PERFECT study Bible.
Through my much gained experience of owning and using several different study bibles, I will have to come to this sincere conclusion.
However, I must say that the standard edition of the Old Scofield Study Bible meets my expectation of one that is light-weight, concise, mostly sound, and non-practical.
If you are willing to buy a few extra studying books such as the following: Strong's Exaustive Concordance, Halley's Bible Handbook, and Smith's Bible Dictionary (ALL in opinion.), than I believe you are off to a great start.
I have never actually owned a Scofield in my entire life, although after several glances of my dear friend's, I do believe that this Bible is worth the price--especially for a thumb-indexed.
Scofield's deep, in-depth, and somewhat convicting footnotes are excellent for study. Although, he does lean toward the Gap Theory, which is the idea that the seven days of creation weren't actual 24-hour days, but consisted of several different geological time frames. This idea is not evidently false, but serves a great deal of contradiction.
My major concern, however, is if this Bible is for YOU. Take the time to visit the some websites which offer some excerpts of this Bible, browse your local book store(s) and search through it yourself, but most importantly PRAY.
God Bless.

Old Scofield Study Bible Oct 22, 2009

You can't go wrong with a Scofield Bible. My previous Bible was also a Scofield, and I had so many notes written in the margins, I was forced to buy to new Bible in order to write down more. As you might expect with this Bible, the references and indexes are a wonderful study help. The thumb index allows for quick movement through the pages, the red-letter edition displays Christ's words, and I love the proper name's index in the back. The only drawback was the size of the typeface. I'm getting older, and this print was slightly smaller than my other Bible (probably a 10 or 12).

Bible Facts Apr 24, 2009
By Gladys M. Barnes Excellent, just what I expected. It makes my bible study much more effective. This is probably the third Scofield Study Bible that I have owned in the past 18 years. I can not imagine doing bible study without my Scofield.

A Beautiful Bible Apr 09, 2010

I bought the blue (with silver-edged pages) Scofield Bible. I take it with me to church all the time now. I like to read the commentaries and cross reference notes when I follow what the pastor is preaching/teaching. It's a well-made and beautiful Bible. I like the thumbed indexes also. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

This is an excellent Bible. However, the print is just a little bit too small for me. Otherwise it's a very good study Bible.
